1. Morphological characteristics of Liquidambar formosana

Liquidambar formosana belongs to deciduous arbors. Its adult trees can reach a height of 30 m and the widest DBH can reach more than 1 m. The bark is grayish brown, and the peeled bark is square. The back of the branches is covered with fine hairs, and the epidermis is gray with small holes. The buds of Liquidambar formosana are about 1 cm long, oval, and covered with fish scale bracts.

The female flowers and male flowers of Liquidambar formosana are located in the same flower plant. The flowering time is in the first and middle of April, and the fruit ripening time is in the last ten days of October. A maple fruit can only produce 1 ~ 2 germinated seeds. If the seed color is yellow, it means that the seed cannot germinate. When the fruit of Liquidambar formosana matures, the shell of the fruit will crack, and the seeds will be dispersed to other places with the help of wind.
