1. Seed selection

Rhus Typhina tree seeds ripen in the fall, and we can harvest its ear in September and dry it to get the seeds. When sowing, choose plump seeds that do not contain impurities, and such seeds have a higher germination rate.

2. Seed germination

Soak the torch tree seeds in 85°C hot water for about five minutes, then remove the seeds, put them in a warm environment, keep them moist, and the seeds will sprout for a while.

3. Soil preparation

Rhus Typhina tree has no requirements for soil. For seedling, we can choose loose and breathable sandy soil, finely dig the soil, and dig strip-shaped seeding trenches.

4. Sowing time

Torch tree seeds are suitable for planting in the spring, and we can plant them when the temperature returns. Early spring in the north is prone to cold spring, so sowing should be postponed.

5. Sowing method

Sow the Rhus Typhina tree seeds into the sowing ditch to a depth of 2 cm, cover the surface with fine soil, and then make a small ridge to facilitate moisture retention. After sowing, water should be properly sprayed, and the soil should be kept moist. The seedlings will basically emerge in about 20 days. Torch tree seedlings were 80 cm high and 1-1.5 cm in diameter, and can be transplanted out of the nursery.
