In the areas where green tea is mainly cultivated with small and medium leaf species, there are mainly two kinds of green tea: single and double cultivation. For single planting, the row spacing is generally 1.3-1.5m, the cluster spacing is 25-33cm, 2-3 plants are planted in each cluster, and 2500-4000 plants are used per mu. In tea areas with low temperature or high altitude, the row spacing can be appropriately reduced to 1.2-1.3m, and the cluster spacing can be reduced to about 20cm.

Double strip planting is a planting method developed on the basis of single strip planting. Each two strips are planted adjacent to each other with a small row spacing of 30cm, a large row spacing of 1.5m, a cluster spacing of 25-33cm, 2-3 plants per cluster, and 4000-6000 seedlings per mu. Compared with single strip planting, double strip planting has the advantages of faster garden completion and production, but also maintains the convenience of future production management. At present, it has gradually become the main planting method in small and medium-sized areas in the north.
